Bio: Mrs. Lyness has been at Divine Mercy Academy/ St. Cecilia for almost 2 decades. With several years of experience, a degree in Education and NJ certification, Mrs. Lyness continues to inspire young minds and create an environment that is engaging and exciting! Creating hands-on learning experiences is her specialty. The students enjoy their time with Mrs. Lyness and know that they are loved each day. She focuses on strong communication and foundational skills, so that all students are ready to take on the Kindergarten experience. Hometown: Vailsburg~Newark, New Jersey (Now a PROUD resident of Rockaway Boro) I like working at the Academy because… We have tons of fun here! Watching young minds at work infused with the teachings of Jesus is remarkable. The friendships that I have made over the years are remarkable. Teaching Philosophy: PreK should be a place where little ones can move, sing, learn, laugh, and share. Building the foundation for the learning process sets the stage for each individual learner. Showing the little ones that both they and their families are important to you gives them the sense of security in school to be the person that God intended for them to be. When students learn about the government, the planets, the continents, and nature, school becomes fun, you see a spark in their curiosity, and the excitement grows from there! Fun Facts about me: I have so many wonderful neighbors. I have two WONDERFUL children who graduated from here. I enjoy the morning “coffee crew” at DMA. I love greeting everyone each day. When I’m not in the classroom you will find me… taking care of my mom and all those important in my life. You can also find me at pilates. Ask me about… Rockaway! Ask me about Divine Mercy Academy! Ask me about my family and animals. My Personal Motto… “You get what you get and you don't get upset!”
