*DMA NURSE (WED-THURS-FRI)
Bio: I am a Jersey girl, born and bred. I am married to my wonderful husband and between us we have 5 children and 10 grandchildren! Our family is the light of our lives. I have been an RN for over 40 years and a NJ Certified School Nurse for 33 years. I worked for the Morris Plains School District for 25 years. My school nurse job at DMA is my second act, which pretty much is the same as my first act!!
Hometown: I grew up in Montclair NJ and have lived in Rockaway for the past 40 years.
I like working at the Academy because… The staff and students are caring and compassionate. The overall positive atmosphere and spirit make it a pleasure to come to work each week
Nursing Philosophy: My belief is that school nurses play an important role in the lives of the students we serve. As a school nurse I value every student and understand how the students health can impact the ability to learn. I feel that when students learn the importance of health and wellness at an early age, they are more likely to make smart decisions about their health later in life.
Fun Facts about me: I have an identical twin sister who lives in Denville, if you see someone who looks like me, it might be her!
I love to sing and I take voice lessons every week.
My husband and I love to see live theater performances, in NYC, Morristown and New Hope, PA
When I’m not at DMA, you will find me… Traveling to see my grandchildren, from Towson, MD to Cleveland, OH to Hawaii!!
Ask me about… my 10 grandchildren, Broadway shows and traveling!!
My Personal Motto… Do what you love, love what you do!! (And I truly love what I do!!)
Bio: A classically trained clarinettist, I had an amazing career, performing orchestral and chamber music. I took up TV and Radio writing and production, had a radio show in California and at 50, decided to try something - new! My experiences have all informed my approach as a nurse. I have two national Board Certifications: one in Geriatric Nursing and one in Case Management; and I am honored to serve and care for those in need physically, psychologically, and spiritually.
Hometown: Kansas City, Mo
I like working at the Academy because… The faculty are all kind, caring and compassionate. The students are kind, polite, respectful and…I love them!
Nursing Philosophy: What is most important to you as a nurse? Providing the appropriate interventions based on the whole person.
Fun Facts about me: I went to St. Therese Little Flower School and Church in Kansas City when I was young, I love animals, I am not afraid to try something new - it has kept my life very interesting and fulfilling.
When I’m not at DMA, you will find me… Practicing my clarinet, spoiling my kitties, doing leatherwork, painting and thrifting for gems to resell!
Ask me about… Evidence-based facts and healthcare and my wanderlust spirit.
My Personal Motto… I may not know what I want to do, but I know what I don’t want to do.
